Connect Threads

OAuth flow for Threads and how it relates to your existing Instagram account.

Updated May 12, 2026·1 min read

Threads is a Meta-owned network linked to your Instagram account. Unison connects to it through the dedicated Threads OAuth flow.

  1. 1

Open Settings → Channels and click Add channel.

  2. 2

Pick Threads from the network grid. You will be redirected to threads.net to authorise.

  3. 3

Sign in with the Instagram account that owns the Threads profile (for most users this is the same login).

  4. 4

Approve the requested scopes: threads_basic, threads_content_publish, threads_manage_replies for the unified inbox, and threads_manage_insights for analytics.

  5. 5

Land back inside Unison. The Threads channel appears in your channel list with a green dot if Unison can reach the API.

What you can publish

  • Posts up to 500 characters
  • Auto-thread on overflow (drafts longer than 500 characters split into a Threads-native chain)
  • Image posts (up to 10 images per post)
  • Reply and quote posts

What is not supported

  • Editing a post after publish (Meta does not expose an edit endpoint for Threads)
  • Direct messages (Threads has no DM API yet)

Removing access

Disconnect inside Unison to delete the OAuth token. To revoke from Meta's side, open Instagram Settings → Account → Apps and websites.
